Disappointed w/ wool?...updated again on post 25
I received my first wool covers today, and I'm so disappointed!
![]() They are so scratchy! One is interlock by thumbelina diapers, and the other one is knitted - IDK by who b/c I got them both on FSOT. I don't want to even put them on DD, but I've heard so many great things about wool covers.... I'm torn. Should I just try to sell them for the exact amount that I bought them, or do I put them on DD, and give this a go? Update: A friend came over this morning, and felt the wool - she said it felt very soft to her, and not scratchy at all. So I'm going to try it on DD tonight. Re: Disappointed w/ wool?
I have heard of people soaking wool overnight in conditioner to soften them up. i've never tried it though. usually wool softens up after washing a few times

Re: Disappointed w/ wool?
Thanks. They are both used items. The Mama I bought them from was very kind to wash and lanolize them (since I have no idea what I'm doing), so they are ready to wear...
I guess I should try them and just see what DD thinks. |

Re: Disappointed w/ wool?
Mine started out very scratchy as well, but with a few wool washes from Northern Essence they softened up very nice.
Good luck |

Re: Disappointed w/ wool?
It definatly shouldn't be "scratchy"
Definatly get some good wool wash & lanolize the heck out of it if you need to. Definatly shave it. And interlock especially shouldn't be scratchy... hmmmm... give it a try and then buy new when you can. Wool shouldn't be disappointing, it should be addicting!

Re: Disappointed w/ wool?
Just wanted to post.....
She got the wool from me. It's the pink/brown thumbelina and the fiesta skirty (knit by Burgh Baby Gear). I thought they were VERY soft. We've used peace fleece and fishermans wool before so I know what scratchy feels like. To us these seemed very soft (almost like the merino knit stuff I've used before). I'm guessing she's very sensitive to wool if they feel scratchy. I'm so sad she can't put them on her DD because they are sooooo cute (that skirty was my absolute favorite!). ![]() It was washed with a wool wash bar and lanolin from London Frogg.
