Doublers vs Preemie Prefolds

I am looking for what works good and isn't overly expensive as I am just starting out CDing. So what brands and/or do the preemie prefolds work well(do these make the diapers very bulky?)?? I could add them to my co-op order today if so....

DD is 16-17 lbs seven month old if that helps. I have bought a few fitteds, aios and regular sized prefolds...to try and find what works best for us. But she is a heavy wetter at night as most babies are and worry about going out with her and not changing her as frequently as at home during the day.

Thanks!

I love using preemie prefolds as doublers. They may be a bit bulkier than say a hemp doubler, but they are super absorbant, dry fast, are very affordable, and I used them as diapers when my babe was a nb.

I have seen some say even an infant prefold as a doubler...will this work in a regular prefold?? And will this be huge?? Maybe just for night time?? Would I be better off buying some hemp doublers...everyone seems to say they hold alot...just starting out so have alot of questions, sorry!!!

I use my preemie ones in my infant prefolda and regular prefolds. It seems like ainfant prefold would be really bulky, but i haven't had to try that.

Re: Doublers vs Preemie Prefolds

prefolds are great even if they are a bit bulky. I've done as much as putting 3 regular prefolds together for my toddler for her nighttime wearing because she is such a heavy wetter. Now THAT is bulky. I prefer with her using two prfolds with a microfiber doubler in the middle. For day I use two regular size prefolds. For my 3 month old, I use a regular prefold folded to fit, and a preemie prefold tucked in side and no that isn't to bulky even for my lil 10 pound preemie princess.

Preemie prefolds are great because you can get a dozen for like 12 bucks, thats a dollar a piece, getting a help doubler or a microfiber doubler tend to be more expensive (not to mention hemp can get stiff in hard water.)

This is what I do.

Munchkin is 5 months, almost 16lbs. She's a string bean and I use an infant prefold with a preemie prefold as a doubler at night. I find that I *have* to use a snappi or else it's too much bulk, but when I snappi using Ooey's instructions, then I'm fine.

I don't use a fleece liner as we've never had problems but it doesn't add much bulk so go ahead. I wouldn't use an infant, it would be too bulky I'd think. I use preemies as doublers occassionally or flats. I love my flats!
