Diaper rash

Ugh. I hate diaper rash. The last time we had diaper rash this bad it was because of fruit (acidity burns from poop). He's had this loose stool/diarrhea for about 2 weeks. It's not bad in that he's not having like 30 watery diarrhea dipes a day...it's that his 3-4 poopy dipes are really loose/diarrhea. Anyway, he's got this bad diaper rash and even 2 open sores.

What is the BEST barrier diaper rash ointment? I need something good!

We're using A&D creamy right now and it's really not doing much.

As a nurse, I think aquaphor is the best, vaseline second. All those expensive diaper creams don't work anyway! don't waste your money!

The L thing in the op is Lansinoh.

I like Boudreaux's Butt Paste but I've heard great things about Burts Bees bum cream too (which you can find at Target - at least around here). Make sure you use some fleece to protect your dipes of you are a CDer.

Re: Diaper rash

At home we use Beaudreaux's Butt Paste and I LOVE it...but we're out of town and I can't find it anywhere! I saw the label for it at Walmart, but there was no actual product.

I might still have some lanisnoh at home I can use (we're flying back today)...or vaseline...never thought about that but I'll definitely keep it in mind (or try it if the others don't work when we get back home this evening!)

I've just been using the A&D creamy and it was somewhere around $4-5 I think..and I have to slather it on SO thick for it to make any difference. We just bought it the other day and it's already almost gone. Makes me so sick to have to waste so much money. I wish I'd thought of vaseline. So much cheaper and it'd definitely create a thicker/stronger barrier than the A&D. At least, the A&D creamy that we got.

Thanks ladies!!!

Re: Diaper rash

I second Aquaphor. DD had diaper rash so bad, her skin just literally fell off when I wiped her, and her bum was bleeding

I put a generous coating of Aquaphor on her, then vasoline over that and a sposie before bed, and her bum was healed in the morning. (I didn't want to ruin my CDs)
