Re: The hospital called today, and I can't have my baby there

Great links, itsymama! Thank you so much!

And thank you all for your kind replies and hugs.

DH and I talked, and he's on board for a homebirth, if we can find a midwife to take us this late in the game AND if she doesn't charge the normal amount. Please cross your fingers for us!

Try contacting Midwife Without Borders. Perhaps she'll be able to help you.

then girl...find a doula who will. That's a bunch of BS. Garbage. What a bunch of crap.

Please keep us updated on the status. I can't imagine what you are going through, especially this late in your pregnancy!

I am currently going through some issues with my birth plan as well, I've got about 4 weeks more then you. I hope that we both are able to find something!

I am so sorry mama. I can't even imagine what you are going through as I'd be so angry I'd be in tears while calling everyone and anything I possibly could while wanting to shoot the lady that called this morning. What the hell was she thinking? I mean, you're this late in the game, what the heck did she expect you to say?

I really hope things work out for you mama. And yes, sometimes a bad thing will happen to get the good thing going. Kinda like losing a job while being so far in debt, only to realize two weeks later that losing the job meant getting that new one with better pay, kwim? So yeah, maybe this is the catalyst for your homebirth!

I wish you the best mama!

Maybe!!! God works in mysterious ways!!! I know it's a stressful thing to deal with 3 weeks before your EDD, but technically you could have even 5 weeks as a FTM!

I really hope that you have some resolution to all this and quickly, but don't settle for something against your better judgement and have it completely ruin your birth experience altogether.

You could learn how to check your own cervix
http://birthresourcecenter.org/index.html

Yes you would still be checking but it is all your own germs.

If you go unassisted has your husband read up so he knows signs of problems.

Also I think you should talk to the midwives yourself, tell them the situation, and someone might just be mad enough at the hospital to give you a really good deal and even let you make payments.

You could also see about an unlicensed labor assistant, they don't have anything to be taken away and you might be able to hire them and have them there as a friend, a friend is not liable of anything if they were at your birth but they would know some problems to watch for.

Someone in Arkansas has to be as ticked off as my 2 doula friends would be.
