Re: Did you turn your LO FF in the car at 20# and 1yr?

I wish I knew this before with #1 and 2. My kids didn't hit 20# until 15months. My dd now 2 is only maybe 25#. I plan on keeping #3 RF as long as I can. He can see his brother and sister that way anyways!!! They sit in the last row of the van and he is in front of them in the middle row.

Re: Did you turn your LO FF in the car at 20# and 1yr?

We turned DS1 at 20lbs, but that was almost 2yrs for him. We would have held off longer but he was getting violently car sick and we hoped it would help. It did some, but still happens from time to time. Ds2 is still rearfacing at 20months and almost 30lbs. When he hits 33lbs we will turn him because that is the seats rfing limit.

I did with my oldest. With #2 and 3 it was around 14-15 months they were over twenty lbs. My youngest is 18 mo, 26lbs and will remain rf til 33lbs. As will the next babe.

DS1 was turned at 1 year, but I didn't know any better then. DS2 is 2yo and about 28lbs and will stay rearfacing until the max on his carseat.

No. My dd was almost 2 years old when we turned her FF. My ds will be 15 months old this month and he still isn't 20 pounds. He will stay RF until he reaches the limit for his Decathlon.

DS is 13 months old and 24.5 lbs.. and is still rearfacing. I'll keep him that way as long as we can still get his legs in comfortably. Luckily, he's all torso.. so it'll be a while!

No... the earliest we switched to FF was went LO1 was about 18 months, and that was when I didn't know any better. LO2 was RF until just a couple of months ago (going on three years old), and LO3 is still RF.

Re: Did you turn your LO FF in the car at 20# and 1yr?

I did with my first two because I didn't know better but I left my 3rd rearfacing until we had to turn him and my 4th will remain that way, too.

ETA: Not only did I turn my first baby forward facing at a year old, she wasn't even 20 pounds. She was only 15 pounds! She didn't hit 20 pounds until she was 2.5 years old and I surely didn't think she was meant to be rearfacing that entire time. Thank God we were never in a serious accident!

Re: Did you turn your LO FF in the car at 20# and 1yr?

As promised, here are links to reasons WHY a baby should stay RF for as long as possible:

http://www.windsorpeak.com/dc/dcboar...d=44503&page=2

http://www.carseat.org/Technical/tec....htm#rearfacFF

http://www.cpsafety.com/articles/stayrearfacing.aspx

(there are crash test videos in that last link)

Also, if the baby's legs are long, it doesn't mean that they need to be turned around. They will fold them up or fling them over the sides. Its not like they sit with their legs straight out in front of them normally hehe...they're not uncomfortable if they are longer in the leg and their feet reach the seat.
