My first crochet project is finished...need advice please

Ok. This was a labor of love for me. I know it isn't the greatest looking handbag on earth but I'm proud of it and I actually finished it!! What type of handles would you suggest I put on this thing? It was made with the chunky-type yarn and it seems kind of heavy for the regular chain-type handle they have in the directions to put on it and I'm afraid if I use that it will break. Any other ideas about what I can use? TIA!

Thanks! Bamboo handles would be neat. Where can I get them and do they come in different sizes? My bag is kind of...wide.

They have some at Michael's, Jo-Ann, and probably Wal-Mart too.

Ok. This might be a dumb question but, how do I know what size to get? My purse is 11.5" wide. Do I get 11.5" wide handles or as close to it as possible because I have no idea how these go on.

I have used the bamboo handles before. Personally, I would get a little smaller. That way you will have a little room on the sides to play with. They are pretty easy to attach. The ones that I got turned up on the ends making it really easy to tie them in. Once I had my handles on, I turned the bag inside out and lined it with fabric so that things would not fall through. That was pretty easy to do too.

Looks great!!!

Ok, great! Thanks so much for that piece of advice. I was thinking about lining it too.
