HECK YES! (GBS negative!) AND we're having a homebirth!!!!!!!!

I just called to see if this result was in at least, and I'm GBS negative!!! WOOOOOO! I've been worried sick about this all pregnancy. I know it's treatable and I've done a lot of reading on it...but still...NEGATIVE, BUDDY!!!

I feel like I could fly today.

Now we're just waiting on the results of the glucose and iron test.

yay!! i am so worried about it to. Since you have done your reading...and i have been too busy, can you tell me what exactly it is...and how you get it? Is it caught virally or on a toilet or what? I know it's super common and not really a huge concern...but educate me!! Thanks

Woo-hoo! Very glad you don't have it, it makes things much easier to test negative especially if you are hoping to go without interventions.

That's awesome! I was GBS+ with my first pregnancy and this time around, I tested GBS-. I have been taking GSE orally for the last few months and I think that helped.

yeah, being hooked up to the IV during L&D was a pain... so glad that you won't have to go through that!!

When will they tell you if the homebirth is a go? I'm sending up prayers for you! I just love homebirth wouldn't have it any other way.

I'm guessing I should know this, but what is GBS? Does everyone get tested for it? I'm due Nov. 6th with my first, so this is all new to me.

Group B Strep is undetected in 30% of pregnant women (I believe), and if passed onto a newborn can cause serious problems and sometimes death. Pregnant women are usually screened for this at 36 weeks, and if tested positive...are given (if you choose) antibiotics to hopefully keep the GBS from spreading to the infant during birth.

WE'RE THRILLED! I don't have gestational diabetes, my iron levels are good, etc. YAY!

Oh, and I called my mom. I got the exact response I thought I'd get, but oh well. No one is raining on my parade today!
