Turkey Day... and telling families

We have decided that on Thanksgiving we are going to tell our families the name and sex of the baby.. we decided thanksgiving because the the only holiday before EDD that we will see both sides of the family on the same day.

so... anyone have any suggestions as fun ways to tell them

Girl! Lana Raine EDD 12/23/07

I thought i can get some turkey day carstock and make annoucements kind of, but then im not sure.

then i thought i could get actual baby annoucement cards and leave the date, weight and height blank so ppl can guess when shell come.

then i thought i could give everyone an early x-mas card and have it wrote in there.

or maybe give out pink candy? i dont know

I *love* that one...too sweet.

The whole idea in general is great as well, announcing the sex and name. Especially since you're planning to do it towards the end...

yeah i did that with DD-- we all guessed when shed come and i got the closest, LOL. I said May 23rd, she came May 22. (i wasnt due til June 17th)...

i have this theory (this is kind of OT) with DD, i used DS's EDD... he was due March 23, so thats where i got May 23, this time DD's EDD was june 17th, so i say Lana will come Dec 17th... im weird i know.

anyway, thanks for the advice..... im open for anymore suggestions

Is Thanksgiving at your place? If so how about setting a place at the table for baby (for next year)? You could leave your announcement at the place setting too!

Just a thought...hope you come up with something creative

Re: Turkey Day... and telling families

We announced on Thanksgiving two years ago, and here's what we did:

I had the kids make lots of hand turkeys and then we put them all on popsicle sticks. We passed them out to everyone and went around the table telling what we were thankful for. Then I was last of course, and I pulled out a teeny tiny little turkey on a stick (the size of a newborn hand) and told what I was thankful for! I think I mentioned that I had another little something cooking in the oven, lol! It was cute.
