Re: Preterm labor

I had PTL with my last pregnancy at 29 weeks. I went to the hosp., got an IV for fluids and 3 shots of the stuff that starts with a 't' that I won't even try to spell. That stopped the contractions for me, but I went into labor and delivered Lucas at 35 weeks. He came out perfect, thank the Lord, no complications of any kind. I know it's hard, but try not to worry and rest up if you can.

Re: Preterm labor

I had PTL at 28 weeks with my last and spent two days in the hospital with terbutaline and steroid shots. They felt confident enough to send me home on bedrest until 36 weeks or so, with oral terbutaline. I had contractions the whole time, but I never went into active labor on my own, and they induced at 39 weeks and a good thing too. She had some distress issues that could have been really bad had we waited any longer. So eleven weeks of contractions and they still had to induce!

Re: Preterm labor

I went into the hospital alittle over 33weeks(went in on a wed or thurs, cant remember off hand) dialated to 3 and contractions regularly, I was on complete bedrest for the weekend and had ds1 on a Sunday(right at 34weeks)...so the meds did no good for me, mainly only enough to get the steriods into me for ds and a couple days not getting out of bed AT ALL.

Re: Preterm labor

Thanks for all the replies ladies. I think I am going to ask my doctor about the steroid shots at my appointment next week. He never mentioned anything about them, but now I'm worried my baby's lungs won't be mature enough if I deliver right at 35 weeks once I go off the meds. I do trust his judgment though so I'm sure if he thinks I need them, then he'll let me know.
