Nuchal Fold & AFP tests done today

I was so worried, but everything looks great!!!! The measurements were super, and the blood test will be back in a week, but all looked great! The babe is big, by a week, growing great she said HR was 168, all looked well
Super relieved

Thumbs up Re: Nuchal Fold & AFP tests done today

cONGRATS on a great nuchal fold u/s! I had the first trimester screen(nuchal
fold combined with blood work) done at 11 weeks, but our baby wouldn't turn over despite pushing up and down on my belly with scanner!! I opted out of the internal u/s(had had one at 8 weeks any way-not fun!) and decided to not get blood drawn since we were going to come back for a level 2 u/s at 18weeks anyway.

I UNFORTUNATELY LEARNED OUR LO HAD A NEURAL TUBE DEFECT(ANECEPHALY) and it was not survivable at birth at 18 wk.u/s.

I still wouldn't change things and will not have any testing done next time i'm pg,just the u/s.just me,good kuck .

Re: Nuchal Fold & AFP tests done today

hi,
i had the quad screening( i think that's the AFP) blood test too..it came back w/ a risk factor of 1 in 101 for a down syndrome baby..so I opted for the amnio centesis procedure which tests for ALL chromosomal abnormalities. Let me just say I highly reccomend this procedure. It was quick and painless, really! Anyway...all results were fine and our daughtr was born healthly on April 3.
Thanks to Dr. Kathleen Kennedy who put me on bedrest in the beginning and who did my amniocentesis (she is a specialist in Perinatology).
