Do you recommend prefolds for a newborn?

Yes, they grow so quickly and go through so many diapers they are surely worth it. Plus they don't move around a lot, so you can just lay a prefold in the cover.

PF were all I used for K as a newborn. I changed her so often that I only used fitteds for going out.

I voted yes b/c that's what I plan to use with #2. I haven't actually used them though. It just seems to make sense.

Thanks! I'm starting to plan a nb stash. How long can you use the infant size for? I started at about 3 months with Hazel, but she was a big baby lol. I mainly used the pf's in pockets at first, because I was afraid of them.

I used prefolds on Maddy since she was a newborn. I really them! I used the infant size on her until she was about 5 months old, now she's in premium but I suppose I could use the regular size on her too. HTH's you some Heather! You'll love prefolds for you baby.

Re: Pfs for nbs?

If parents are truly diapering for economics then yes I do reccomend prefolds -- with at least 8 covers.

If parents want a great diaper for going out, when poopy blowouts are not at all acceptable than fitteds are the choice to reccomend.

It really depends on each individual family. Fitteds are awesome to have for a newborn, but not always a neccessity.

HTH,

K is 10 months and I can still use infant pf on her. She's only 18 lbs though too I used them from the beginning. I just folded down the back before putting it on her.

Re: Pfs for nbs?

I loved prefolds on my son as an infant and now at 8 months we are still using them as they are my favourite system. At the newborn stage, when I was having problems with leaks with my fast wetter, they solve all our problems.
