Re: Pfs for nbs?

Thats pretty much all I used when this baby was born... I was changing her diaper every hour or so, and she pooped allll the time... so I did not care if they were stained or anything... dh never got the hang of them, so I would leave the fitteds and few xs fbs for him.... but she lived in cpf for at least 2 mos.

Re: Pfs for nbs?

Yes definatly I love prefolds for newborns. My reasons are they wash and dry fastest. They are super easy to care for. I didn't mind a little bleach with my prefolds. And it didn't bother me as much if they got a little stained. I kept it really simple and trifolded them and had a bunch of wraps so it didn't matter if anything leaked out.

Re: Pfs for nbs?

Just wanted to add that I found the standard sizes of prefolds to bulky for my newborns. So I found a fun replacement. I used Burp Clothes from Walmart. They are make like prefold just smaller. They were really soft because they are all flannel. I had a ton of them and still use them as pocket stuffers.

I didnt like them until she was about a month old and she could wear the infant size. Preemies were not absorbant enough in the begining we used the vb fitteds I made w/ prorap nb covers never had a leak they worked awesome

If you can find Green Earth covers I preferred them over Proraps. They're softer and stretchier, but made the same. I don't see them like I did a couple years ago, so not sure how available they are.

I liked Bummis SWW, but Zane couldn't wear them until after his cord was healed. The edge rubbed right on his stump- he was earlier tho so a full term baby may fit fine.

I really like Litewraps- cheap and the pastel print is cute. They run a smidge big and the dipe needs pinned/Snappi'd.

There are tons of good WAHM covers out there. I'd love to try them all!!

I only like Bumpkins wraps if the pf is trifolded. It just doesn't seem to cover a pin/Snappi dipe very well, and doesn't work well with fitteds at all.

Once Zane could fit a small Mother-Ease Airflow we went with them. LOVE them! I like the new Bumpkins pull on covers too- but not sure I'd do those with a newborn. I see that poo being spread down the leg-

Have fun shopping!!

Re: Pfs for nbs?

I voted no. I don't prefer them personally, but would use them over a sposie ANY OLD DAY OF THE WEEK!

Re: Pfs for nbs?

I voted no, too. I really hated that the bf poo leaked onto the covers every time! It didn't help that we were used to pockets (from older child), so pf's just seemed like too much work, LOL. We were so used to no blowouts w/ pockets, so suddenly getting poo everywhere again (like we did w/ sposies on our first when he was a newborn) was totally not worth it! Plus, you have to do the pf + the cover vs. just the pocket (or AIO) - my dh was like "ummm, tell me again why this is better??" Moneywise, though, you can't beat pf's! We do still use them as pocket stuffers, though...

I voted yes (duh) ROFL that is all I use. For covers I recommend proraps and gerber covers.
