Why aren't diaper sizes somewhat universal?

How do you know what size you need to buy when the ranges vary so much? My twins both fit in mediums but the diaper I just bought was too small for dd even though it is a medium? I am asking so if I buy more diapers I know what I am getting into and can make better choices. Thanks for the advice!

I have the hardest time with this! Most people don't make larges that are big enough for my baby. I am wary to try anything new because I just have to sell it again. What I usually do is email the wahm to get the measurements. The waist, rise and thighs. Sometimes that is listed on the site.

If they were universal it'd been too easy I agree, it is frustrating. I dont' have a good answer to it. Even with measurements I've bought the wrong sizes

I think if diaper sizes were universal baby sizes would have to be universal too!! I know it is frustrating but at the same time when you find something that fits it is awesome!! Unfortunately that is part of the trial and error of it!

Re: Why aren't diaper sizes somewhat universal?

Yeah, $15 for one diaper is alot of money to me so it was a bummer for it not to fit. i just won't be buying any new diapers anymore bc I don't want to throw that kind of money out on something that I may or may not use with other kids. I mean what if I don't have any more girls? KWIM

IF you buy a new diaper, you might want to check fit as soon as you get it, before you wash so that you can exchange the size if necessary. Sorry this happened, it happens to me all the time and drives me bonkers, lol.

Re: Why aren't diaper sizes somewhat universal?

I guess I should have done that. This was my first new diaper other than testers so I washed it first and then found out it is too small. The diaper is so cute and soft and ... well you KWIM.

Diapers are like buying a pair of jeans, some fit better then others

Sometimes they don't fit at all.

I definitly think you need to "try out" lots of dipes for NB and small. I have received MD diapes that are the same size as large--aggravating to say the least.

Re: Why aren't diaper sizes somewhat universal?

I think you are right Heidi. I need to try things used before I buy a new one. I will defintely be buying more diapers from the mama I bought the diaper from bc it is so well made and soft and beautiful! I just want to know more about sizing so I can get the right things!
