How much detergent do you use?

For those who've measured, how much detergent? 1 tablespoon? 3 tablespoons?

I'm looking into having some detergent scoops custom made for cloth diaper users. Something that would make laundry be extra easy, esp for daddies and grandmas.

Thanks!

Re: How much detergent do you use?

i use a&h super washing soda - about 2 T of that. i have also used all f&c (about 1T) in the past but it was causing me some problems with microfleece - it was just fine for my fitteds w/o fleece though.

Re: How much detergent do you use?

I yoinked the 1/8th measuring cup from our kitchen and it is now a laundry scoop. We have one of those "economy" (i.e. - tiny!) washers, so I figured it would be easier than having to constantly remind DH that he doesn't need an entire cup of detergent, especially for diapers!

I use all free and clear.. I use just enough to cover the bottom of the cup, so about 2 tsp?

our water is fairly hard but we have a water softener (i'm not entirely certain whether it's hooked into the water feed for the washer or not). this is for what i consider a full load of diapers - 12 or so diapers with the associated wipes & soakers and what not - probably what i would consider a medium load of clothes.

if your diapers aren't smelly or repelling then it must be working ok for you. i have had problems with mine getting smelly if i don't use enough detergent.
