Nuva Ring

Is this safe for breastfeeding? My doctor said he couldn't tell me The information sheet didn't say much either. Is any on this tried this know someone who has? My dd is 9 months old if that comes into play so my milk is defiantly established.

Re: Nuva Ring

I believe it is safe while BFing, although I have heard that it can make your supply go down thats why a lot of people use the mini pill or something else while they are still bfing.

Thank you so much I am going to give it a try. The mini pill won't work because I can never remember it This will be an answered prayer I hope.

I was on the NuvaRing for a year or so and LOVED it... BUT you need to remember to take it out and put it back in....I took mine out and forgot to put it back in and then I said well next cycle and oppsie I was pregnant the next month.... Just mark it on your calendar... I used to forget ALL THE TIME that it was in and leave it in too long too. You really have no idea it's there and I had ZERO sideeffects (I wasn't BFing at the time though but I can't tolerate oral BC pills...)

I used it also just before I got pregnant this time, and yes I took mine out and was pregnant a month later so be careful you don't forget to put it back in.

It's very comfortable and I never knew it was in, the only side effect I had was that I basically didn't want my husband anywhere near me I had NO sex drive at all.

My mw doesn't recommend the nuva ring while bfing. She said it will affect my milk supply. I did the mini pill with dd#1 and will probably do the same with this baby.

Re: Nuva Ring

Yikes! I would be very careful. I read the info that comes with it and it claims not to be very compatible with BF. It makes your supply decrease and could make your milk taste different mimicing how your milk changes when you are pregnant.

The plus, I was nervous about putting a (mini jelly bracelet - you know those ones we used to wear in the late 80s up my vajayjay) but it was reasonably comfortable.

Hope this helps and is not too deterring...
