Good luck mama... As a family on food stamps it really does help.
ONly in my situation we dont get much, we only get 73.00 a month for a family of 4 as we were a lot closer to the income guidelines.
I went and filled the application that day, had an interview with DHS...We had our food stamp card two days later.

Can you call them to see if you can get in for an actual interview of your situation so that you can get approved right away..
I know every state is different so I'm not sure if your state does this.

we are just starting the process of FS and I did not know it takes that long. I have my interview on Tuesday... HAve to get all the ppwrk together for that though. we have a family of 7 and make decent money but not so good with 7 epople to feed...

i had my interview today. i have to mail them a copy of my electric bill and a statement on my DH's income since he only does odd jobs. hoping, hoping, hoping.

Absolutely check out the food pantry. That could really help you out. It's hard to get the paperwork together when pays are irregular. My DH works fulltime, but they always give me a hassle about my HGP business. It's different every month. I can't make people have parties!! lol
