the family on "bringing home baby" today used cloth.....

i don't know if anyone else watches this show but today the family that brought home twin girls were using cloth!!! at first i was very excited to see that, then their friends came to visit and asked if she was and when the mom said yes her friend says "she's insane, she won't get an epidural, she nurses, and she uses cloth". the mom said NOTHING back. then at the commercial break the narrator says "coming up next we'll see if (i can't remember her name) continues to nurse and use cloth diapers". they never did say if she continued either but they did show the dad putting a pampers babydry on one of the twins.
considering in EVERY episode i've ever seen they show a parent carrying a bag of pampers i'm pretty sure their a promoter for the show.

anyhow....big deal for cd advocates at first...then made it look like cloth is horrible. boo on bringing home baby!!!!
i've also noticed almost every mother on the show has a horrible time nursing and switches to formula...do we see a pattern? is this show just all about promoting formula and pampers?

OMG, I used to love that show. Ok, when I was pregnant I was practically glued to health channel and the baby shows. I never noticed that about the diapers and formula, but now that you mention it...Hmmmmm. That is shame...I second the boo on them!!!

It does suck, but it's also reality. Most mothers start out nursing, but by six months, the majority of them give up. Not sure about the stats of cloth diapering, but I imagine that a lot of people try it and give up because they either don't want to deal with all the washing, or their dh makes them.

I used to watch those shows and I'd scream at the TV telling them what to do with their babies...(since I'm a FTM and know so much more lol)...like "Hey, you need to smash your boob into a sandwich so that your baby can latch on!"

I think they get a lot of "financial aide" so to speak, from pampers etc so that is why that was on there. BUT I totally agree! I see that with that show all the time and I never have seen a cd'ing mama on there.

I'd love to post/email that family and encourage them to keep it up and invite them to DS.com.

Re: the family on "bringing home baby" today used cloth.....

haha i yell at the show too!!! i call it the show i love to hate, some of these mothers give up on breastfeeding for some of the dumbest reasons. i've heard some of them give up the same day they come home b/c they don't have any milk yet...well you're not going to yet you dink! i often wonder how these women are so uneducated, the hospital i delivered at with my first two ds's had wonderful bf technicians.
the family has a maternity clothing business called "one hot mama" i believe. for all we know the one pampers could've been the only one they ever put on those babies..it could've been simply for the show. my point is the show sucks b/c of that, if that's the family's choice it's the family's choice kwim? but i agree i'd love to e-mail them as well to encourage them also!!!!

I usually watch that show and laugh at them, especially when the dad says hopefully he will sleep through the night and get on a schedule. I also think they're sponsored by pampers, boo to them!
