Can you get thrush only on one nipple?

We've been BFing for 10.5 months now and no problems... knock on wood. BUT my right nipple lately is KILLING me. So sore to the touch, tender, pink-red. Hurts a bit when he latches, although with his teeth now he does have a habit of "chewing" his way onto the nipple. I favor nursing on that side so maybe that's why it's sore. Anyways, it isn't going away. Could I have thrush on one side only? I would think not... that it would go to both sides, but then again I'm no Dr.
I don't see any sores in his mouth and he has no diaper area redness or rash.
But when I touch the nipple, just the nipple only, it is SOOO tender and sore. I've never really "seen" thrush or personally had a yeast infection anywhere else, but my dog has has a yeast infection in her ear this summer and I wondering if I could get it from her or something?

for some reason the times I have had thrush with either lo it was more on my left than my right. For the majority of the infection it was only on the one side

Hmm. My nipples don't look like those pictures at all. Thanks for those websites, very informative! Maybe I just have tooth trauma or something? It kind of feels like it was put through a meat grinder, although aside from just being a little pink you couldn't tell. I hate to go to my Dr though for a sore nip....

wash it 3-4x a day with baking soda and water (a tablespoon of baking soda to a cup of water) and if its thrush it will be gone soon
