Re: Please read

I'd love to come down, but gas... I wish everyone that is going luck. It sucks that we have to have them, but if that is what it takes! I know the keeping blanket thing would have made things even worse for me... DH always crosses his fingers that no one says anything to me b/c it would not be a pretty sight and I am sure the cops would be involved

It's like the freedom riders. A bunch of people standing up (or nusing in) for the right cause.

Lexington is like an 18 hour drive or so from Amarillo, more than just a few hours.

I figure that money speaks louder than a few nursing mothers. Write letters! Stop going to sub-par restaurants! Stop shopping at places that treat you poorly! If people don't like to see nursing mothers, how does staging a sit in change their minds? I don't believe it does. If anything, I can see those people thinking "See? Trouble makers!"

Of COURSE that's absurd but I think there are better ways to raise awareness.

Part of the problem when a situation like this stirs up press response is that the mainstream thinks, "Oh, well, it's only a few women out there who feel this way about public breastfeeding." Nurse-ins (especially larger nurse-ins) show the world that it's more than just a small minority who support public nursing. Sure, money speaks loudest in our society, but publicity influences money. Nurse-ins get press, and press informs larger groups of people. If a nurse-in is covered by the local news, it has the potential to influence the local public.

Who said people dont ALSO WRITE LETTERS? It sure as He** gets the word out and yes SOME people will think "Trouble makers" and most will be in shock at the treatment of a Mother feeding her child in the most natural way. I guess a picture of those at a nurse in on 20 different news channels is better than letters that are thrown away at a corporate office.

Of course write letters but I DEFINATLY also support nurse ins when they are needed because THAT GETS ATTENTION!

It is OBVIOUSLY needed in this situation because Applebees wants to supply BALNKETS to Mothers who want to nurse their children in the resturants! WTF!

Oh and yes money speaks louder than words, I know I wont be eatting at any Applebees until an apology is made as I have heard many other Mothers will not eat there .... that is a TINY dent in Applebees wallet but it is SOMETHING!

Letters get the word out ... Nurse Ins show that you are serious!
