How do you keep from snacking all day around your kids?!

I need strategies! I never have time to prepare myself food... So I end up slapping food together and scarfing it down. Then I find myself reaching for quick foods to snack on... And those foods aren't the healthiest.

Maybe I should have more healthy snack laying around...?

Like carrots and hummus... Banana and PB. Etc. I just always reach for the potato chips! My husband likes them but I swear I eat most of them! Argh.

I don't buy the junk food unless it is going to be eaten right away. Or on the rare occasion I do I try to put them out of my reach and sight. Makes it harder to mindlessly snack.

If there is junk food in the house, I eat it. Lol I try to plan quick lunches and snacks (that I like) before going to the store instead of just winging it. I find if I think ahead, I'm better able to have healthy snacks available.

Being aware of what types of food and how much I am consuming is half the battle. I log my food and dole out the portion before I eat. If I keep healthy foods around, it's easy to eat healthy. I also try not to keep too much junk food in the house. Road trips are my worst junk food binge times though! My faves were apple slices wrapped in cheese, baked potato cut in wedges with dill weed on top, hummus as you mentioned and lots of yogurt.

Ugggh I went through this for awhile. A year and a half ago or so I ended up making a snack schedule so we'd eat at those times. (Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner.) We've sort of dropped the snack schedule over the past few months, though... thankfully my LO's don't beg for food all day any more.

I was doing carrots and hummus for awhile. Yum I also sometimes put stuff up high where it's too much of an effort for me to bother reaching for it... well, half the time, anyway.

I find myself eating DDs leftovers... Even off the floor (ick!) because it's faster than tossing it. Omg.

Serve smaller portion sizes. No left overs to snack on. When you cook your food, after serving everyone put you leftovers in a container and freeze them. Frozen food is harder to snack on.

I agree, I can't even keep junk food in the house. We may buy chips or something for a party, but We have to keep veggies and fruit around. Also, my husband loves to bake, so we sometimes have made-from-scratch cookies (no chemicals!). We keep them in the freezer, though, so they take more effort to eat

Never beat yourself up for snacking. If you want healthier snacks, keep sliced fresh fruit easily available, nuts, bananas, oats around! Eat bigger meals!
