I think I've done this before. It's kind of weird if it's still a little frozen when you try to eat it, but not bad. It would keep the sandwich nice and cool until lunch time! Obviously, you can't really put veggies or mayonaise on it but plain meat and cheese and maybe some mustard would be good.

Re: Packed Lunches

I'm excited about the Bento boxes, but my only question is - is there room for a cold pack if I buy the system that comes with a carrying case & water bottle? We always add cold packs to the kid's lunch boxes...

are you talking about laptop lunches or an actual bento?
we have the LL and the case does have a place for an ice pack
for our bentos I put an ice pack in there too

Mmm, these sound all so tasty.

Usually I make DH a side kick, split it with myself for dinner, and send some kind of junk food and crystal lights.

Re: Packed Lunches

DD loves Hummus(almost 2 and in a Mom's Day Out once a week after I work the night shift), but when I sent it with her to school it always came back uneaten. At home she begs for it, then I realized, the teachers might not know that everything goes together. So I started packing the hummus in a little container inside a container with the chips and a little note saying Hummus dip. Ever since then it always gone. So my tip is, if it is something that most people don't seem to eat, it might need instructions.

Re: Packed Lunches

I went on search a couple months ago for new ideas for my 9 year olds lunch and found some great ideas, but definitely had to look outside the box of a sack lunch.

These are great blogs....some recipes maybe very different, but a lot of great ideas that could also save you money.
