Re: Meatloaf update..

At least you caught it!

i remember a couple years ago, I put a turkey breast in my crockpot, then left to go to the mall....came home 6 hours later to discover that yes I turned it on but I forgot to plug it in!! Needless to say I ordered pizza and tossed the bird in the trash!

Re: Meatloaf update..

what recipe did you use for the meatloaf?? does it make it but cheaply? I make this one from www.Kraftfoods.com, my fav website for recipes, stuff I can actually make!
http://www.kraftfoods.com/main.aspx?...ecipe_id=63230
That's the one I use and it's our fav. I've made it SOO many different ways and this one has the most flavor, stays together, I've tried making it w/ cream of wheat, bread crumbs, oatmeal, ketchup, salsa, bbq sauce, this one came out well, tasted well and isn't too expensive.

Good luck w/ yours, I hope it turns out!!

Re: Meatloaf update..

i made this one:

This is my favorite meat loaf, it came from Kraft.
2 lbs of ground beef
1 box of stuffing mix (6 oz)
1/2 cup of bbque sauce (divided)
2 eggs
1 cup water

Everything in a bowl except 1/4 of the bbque sauce. Mix well and shape into an oval loaf in baking pan. Top w/ rem. bbque sauce.
Oven 375 for ~ 1 hour

I am not much for measuring so mine tastes different everytime. This could be a great starter for those who like to add things. I like that it is very easy to prepare and doesn't take much time. Not sure on the price but I am sure that it comes close to $5.

taken from $5 meal thread. I did exactly as directed. It tasted ok- but im not sure if it was suppose to be kind of dry or what. I wouldnt eat it everyday but it was bad. I dont think id like Ketchup Meatloaf though.

pics in a few- i have to clean up.

Re: Meatloaf update..

mix some ground pork in next time. It adds moisture to it and most of the time, it's cheaper than ground beef. (I use 2 pds ground beef and 1 pd ground pork. Though you can mix half/half)

My kids love meatloaf to the point I have to make 2 full loaf pans if I want leftovers sandwich meat.

Re: Meatloaf update..

thats close to how I do it

I add quick oatmeal instead of stuffing. and use ketchup and worsetcherster (sp) sauce and add spices instead of bbq if I don't have it, or a mix of all of it lol

you can do 1 lb beef and 1 egg for a half size too....

oh and I found that if yoy put your meatloaf in a circle pan and do a ring that I can cut down the cook time. i do about 35mins for a 1lb loaf @ 350
