Colostrum shocker (come get a laugh if you need one)

So my MW said to try nipple stimulation with my breast pump. I have been avoiding nipple stimulation, because..well...I just really want them left alone while I still can. lol. But tonight, I put it on and didn't really pay much attention (browsed through DS). DH came in and said "Hey! You've got it!" I looked down and pulled the pump away...HUGE mess. lol.

Thought ya'll might get a kick out of that, as DH is still rolling.

lol...well, that or I honestly didn't think anything would come out...even though I've been leaking colostrum for months. Not sure what I was thinking.

ah. The beginnings of smelling like sour milk for months. I just NOW am able to go padless. It's wonderful.

No signs at all. I went to the midwife appointment today, and 2 weeks ago I was 1cm and 50% effaced.

Today...1cm, 50% effaced.

We went and power walked a mile...contractions started, got home. They went away.

Tried the nipple stimulation, and well...

Save all of that early milk that you can! Sam had a blocked eye duct and had "goopy" eyes for a while.. dropping a few drops of milk in his eye cured that likity-split... BM is also great for diaperrash or just irritation... I WISH I hadn't been so afraid of the pump in the beginning. I just changed cloth pads like a crazy woman.

Ok, so I'm not the only one who thinks this. lol.

I swear...I went to a LLL meeting, and the smell was overpowering. I came home and cried to DH, because I "didn't want to smell like that". Tough cookies though, eh?

Oh, I've gotta start pumping immediately. Well...soon anyway. I'm only taking 2-3 weeks off of school, and when I go back, I'm going to need (roughly) 16oz 2 days per week (Tues and Thurs).

ooh yeah. I remember having a meltdown too over stinking like sour milk.. I think it was a bit of my leftover preggo Super Spidey smelling sense too. Just have TONS of pads (always carry a few with you) and it helps. I never "felt" my letdown.. so it was tricky. Now that me and "the girls" have come to an agreement things arn't so bad with leaking.
