HELP! Urgent BABY NAME HELP!

Ok, so me and DH have decided to go with "Abigail" for this newest little girl. We love the name, and the nickname. I've always had reservations because I didn't feel it "clicked" with DD 1's name, Brooklyn. Her name is very modern and Abigail is so traditional.

I came across the spelling Abigayle today. I really like it. It adds a little something else to it, and it looks much better beside Brooklyn. DH likes the whole "Y" thing, since his name is Bryan.

My mom thinks I'm setting her up for some terrible life by changing the spelling a little. And that people will always mispell it.

Is it just too out there? I really like it, and we have less than 24 hours before she is here! HELP! LOL!

Re: HELP! Urgent BABY NAME HELP!

I thinks its fine - I mean its your decision.
I wouldnt do the whole "y" thing only because gayle seems old ladish to me LOL but since it has the abi in front of it, it seems different - I dunno I think Im confusing myself . I love the name though- I had a friend Abby in HS - always heard her be called by her nick name and never the full Abigail.

And with the names not sounding right - we have a child with a hispanic name and one with a common American name.

I like the traditional spelling but that just comes from me being a teacher and trying to spell names different ways. I actually like how the two names sound together.

Hey girl! I didn't know you were starting to CD! Anywho, I am personally a fan of the traditional spelling myself I can't believe you are going to be holding her tomorrow! I am jealous!

Re: HELP! Urgent BABY NAME HELP!

My cousin had a baby in Jan and they named the baby Abragayle (so they added an R in there, BUT at 1st they were going with Abigayle and spelling it with the GAYLE)..so I see nothing wrong with spelling it that way, its a different spelling than normally and there is nothing wrong with that, its YOUR choice not someone elses.

I do agree that people will misspell it but heck MY name is misspell and its easy to spell, ds name (Aidan) and even DH (Scott) is mispelt, so IMO most names are spelt wrong at some point or another...I have a hard time spelling Abby or Abi because my friends dd is Abigail and they call her Abbey so im use to the ey now and the y or i looks weird to me now,lol

She'll spend her whole life correcting people's spelling of her name, but IMO that's not that big of a deal. And that's coming from someone who has to correct the name & spelling people try to use.

Both of my LO names are spelled differently, but just by one letter. I love the traditional spelling of Abigail. I have a differently spelled name, and am constantly telling people how to spell it.
