Grammar Mama to the Rescue! Proofreading services for WAHMs

Attention, WAHMs!

You work hard creating special items that come from the heart. You've spent hours, days, and weeks perfecting your craft. You bend over backwards to provide excellent customer service. But beautiful products, flawless construction, and friendly customer service can all be overshadowed by one flaw: a site that simply doesn't look professional. In particular, a site littered with misspellings, grammatical errors, and typos can be a barrier to maximum sales. That's where I come in!

If apostrophes, commas, hyphens and their/there/they're drive you insane, I can help. I'm a lifelong Grammar Nerd with a professional background that includes:

* Working as a tutor in an online writing lab for undergraduate and graduate students across the world.
* Writing a weekly freelance feature for a large metropolitan newspaper.
* Earning a BA and an MA in history - a field that requires LOTS of writing.

My price is negotiable and will depend in part on the size of your site. And I'm happy - no, thrilled! - to work for trade. I can't sew a stitch, so this is the only way I can use my non-crafty skill set to build my stash. For most sites, I'd be willing to work in exchange for 1 diaper or $20. If you have any hard copy, such as promotional brochures, you'd like edited, I'd be open to negotiating a price for that, too.

PM me if you're interested and we'll work out the details!

Re: Grammar Mama to the Rescue! Proofreading services for WAHMs

OMG I am SO glad that someone is offering their services to do this! My biggest pet peeve is to see something very well made and then have something like this:

"There made buy are best momma's."

I thought I was the only one that ever noticed things like that! Thanks for offering it...I don't know if you'll get a lot of business or not (hopefully so), but if everyone who needed you actually used you, you'd be rolling in the dough! Good luck!

I just want to give Michelle a plug, she is the grammar QUEEN. You can't go wrong with her help.
Although I am always nervous writing anything to her....

Awwww, thanks, Lori!

And you know you shouldn't be nervous to write to me! Sometimes I hate my "reputation." Honestly, I don't judge little typos and stuff; I know I make them myself all the time! It only annoys me when it's repeated and pervasive.

And in any case, how could I not love you and your beautiful little girl?

Please don't ready my posts! I'm usually NAKing, that's my excuse

I spot typos all the time and it drives me insane when it is for a buisness. GL!

NAKing is an acceptable excuse.

I don't mind 1 or 2 typos so much when it's a WAHM, but it drives me CRAZY when I see typos in ads for big, local companies or even sometimes national companies. They need to hire new marketing people!

That is an awesome idea. I am not the best at grammer, but have noticed websites with too many errors. On a bb board it is fine, but if you are a WAHM on a bb trying to sell or have your own website, I think it is very important that you come across as professional.

Me too!

I am so glad you are doing this! It is a badly needed service. But sadly, it's like a parenting class. The people that need it most don't know they need it and will never take it. You should be mandatory for all WAHMs!
