Re: midwives in the DC area?

I gave birth at Holy Cross. LOVED it. Had a great experience.

Give them a call and ask about their Doulas. See if they can help you out.

Good luck!

Whatever you do, don't deliver at Southern MD Hosp. I know you are in Silver Springs but if you are ever down here and something happens go elsewhere. Just know that you are better off squatting behind a bush! I am serious. I drove all the way out to Calvert (about an hour) for my fourth and So. Md. Hosp. is a 4 min. drive for me!

P.S.- All us mamas should meet IRL at a M.O.P.S. meeting or something!

Also call the one in Anne Arundel and talk to their doulas, they were loads of knowledge.

HTH
Bay Area Midwifery is the one attached to Anne Arundel Medical Center. I had my 2nd dd with them at the hospital (not their center - because of problems with a fire alarm going off in the building the day I delivered). I don't think they have their own website, this is all I could find and the brochure is old:

http://www.chesapeakebirthcompanions.com/bayarea.html

It was a totally awesome experience all around, I loved the mw's and the hospital and staff was awesome too. PM me if you need any more info!

Do you mean St. Mary's in Leonardtown? Oh, what a horrible experience I had there! I totally agree, but Calvert wasn't that much better to me. We were in Lusby and ended up driving to Annapolis to deliver (1 hr. 15 min. drive).

Off topic, but where in So. Md. are you?

Re: midwives in the DC area?

I birthed at Virginia Hospital Center and they were extremely accomodating of my desire for natural birth. (didn't end up completely natural, but...) I also have some great doulas in the area... transitions birth doulas helped me.

I have heard great things about birthcare, but I don't know much about the MD side of town.

On a side note, I would love to meet other DS mamas IRL!!!
