Anyone's DH "catch" baby??
We were meeting with our doula last night and she mentioned this to us and she knows that my midwife would let dh do it, as long as everything was going well of course.
I wasn't sure DH would want to, but he thinks it would be pretty neat. Has anyone else done this?? What did your dh think of it after it was all said and done??

Re: Anyone's DH "catch" baby??
My dh caught dd, and will probably catch this one as well. Of course, we UC, so he was the only other person there, LOL. While the thought of catching my own baby might sound cool, with dd, the position i needed to be in to give birth was NOT conducive to me catching, so it just wasn't really a possibility....we'll see how it goes this time.

Re: Anyone's DH "catch" baby??
My DH "caught" our DD with some assistance from our midwife, and he thought it was totally fantastic! He really loves that he was the first person to lay hands on our DD upon her entrance into the world. He LOVES bragging about it to people when we talk about our birth experience too...I guess that ego has to come in somewhere huh?

Re: Anyone's DH "catch" baby??
My mother in law caught my youngest... we didn't have it planned that way. The nurse left the room to call the doctor and I had told her that I needed to push but she told me not to
lleyes2:. Within two pushes Avery was out and my mil caught him. It was awesome.

Re: Anyone's DH "catch" baby??
I caught my 3rd!
Well the nurse/lay-MW told me when to reach down and pull him out since the dr wasn't there yet, does that count?? LOL

Re: Anyone's DH "catch" baby??
DH was supposed to catch our first but he was behind me in the tub and I wouldn't let him move. Then, we planned to have him catch our second but I happened to go into labor when my midwife was out of the country so we went to the hospital instead and I thought he wouldn't get to catch him...turns out, the dr didn't make it in time anyway because he came out so quickly, so DH ended up getting to catch him! He LOVED it!!! I wish he would've caught our first also, he was talking about how cool it was for days afterwards!
