Re: Anyone's DH "catch" baby??
My DH caught all 3 of our babies. My OB got the head & shoulders out, then she let DH do the rest. She kept her hands close to his, so there was no worry of him dropping the baby. It made him feel special, and I'm glad he was able to do it.

Re: Anyone's DH "catch" baby??
For some strange reason I have never had any desire to 'catch' my own baby. That is DH's job! He put the baby in there he takes it out!
But really, with DS2 he did a midwife assisted catch at home on our bed. With DS3 he did an unassisted catch with me squatted on the floor. It is some sort of bragging rights of his. I think he feels 'superiour' to other dadies who have to watch a stranger all up in their wife's stuff and touching their baby! Well maybe not 'superiour' but I know he does bragg and wonders why other men don't have any desire to be apart of such a wonderful experience. He deffinetly thinks some men are missing out!

Re: Anyone's DH "catch" baby??
I had a death grip on my husband during our last homebirth (my fourth baby), so he wasn't able to catch her. We've talked about it this time, and he'd love to.. but his main job is to support me and is ok with leaving the catching to the midwife if I need him with me. I'd love for his to be the first hands to touch this baby.

Re: Anyone's DH "catch" baby??
DH has caught the last 2 or 3, first one wanted to but there were some issues that required a quick practiced delivery of the little blue boy. The great thing is he's not nervous about the midwife arriving cause he knows what to do and he can guess the weight pretty close, last time it was so cool cause i was nursing baby everyone was guessing weight and he was the only other one who had held baby at that point. I agree with Ginafer he put it there he can be the one who catches it when it comes out.
