Re: Time to wean? Says my DH. WTH?????

I have to wonder if someone said something to him...
It just seems strange for him to be fine with it for 6 months and then suddenly want yo uto go to the hassle of pumping each and every time your baby would need to eat. YIKES!

WOW....I would seriously castrate my husband if he said that to me. Nope, no way. Your body, your boobs, your baby.

Breastfeeding is the best choice you have made for your baby. Keep going strong mama, as long as you want.

SERIOUSLY!!! My husband wouldn't even DARE say anything like that to me! He says things like "sooo how long does he nurse for?" I say until whenever! He's of the mind set that children have to be weaned to stop nursing but I'm teaching him about CLW.... Men can be SO clueless.

I agree with everyone else your boobs your choice!! Also is he crazy at 6mnths and with the cold and flu season around the corner!!! Tell him he needs a hobby and then he won't be worried about your nursing!!
Men sometime they are only good for 1 thing ... well maybe 2

NO, that's not a good idea to wean now. There is a lot more info out now about extended breastfeeding - beyond a year up to 2 yrs or more, even. Good luck!

I agree w/ everyone else your LO is only 6 months way to early to wean I really don't understand why so many people think that switching a baby to formula(or full time pumping/bottle feeding) is better. I understand that he might be worried about people seeing the boob, but gosh that is what they were made for. Keep it up mama you won't regret it.

One thing you could tell him is when the baby is exposed to germs, they deposit on your nipples and that signals your body to make antibodies to that and give it back to the baby. That will not happen using a pump. Worth a shot to give him an explanation of why it's not a good idea, esp with winter coming up!! Hope he comes around, Tina

There are SOOO many ways to nurse discreetly and I mean, I've exclusively nursed DS and he's almost 15 months old--I've probably only nursed in public (like TRULY public.. like "here's a bench at the mall" public) MAYBE 3-4 times. I have no problem going to a changing room or my car--I'm a VERY VERY modest person.

I would also bring up the point that cold and flu season is around the corner--nursing was our lifesaver. Literally. When DS had RSV he was still only getting breastmilk and I swear it's the only reason he's still alive.

Those antibodies from mother's milk CANNOT be beat. Try and convince him to hold on through the cold and flu season for that reason--then you can eek out a few more months.. and then a few more.. etc...

I hope you find what works best for you - perhaps a sit down conversation with DH about the benefits of nursing...although, I'm sure he already knows that stuff. You might just want to inform him that no one is looking at your "goodies" lol.
