Re: Any Mama's who have sucessfully relactated?

Good for you for relactating! I have a friend who stopped nursing at 9 months for personal reasons. She had no milk at all anymore at 13 months and successfully relactated! I know she used a SNS at first She got lots of support from LLL.

I didn't think there was any hope for me to relactate...I am really sad that we did quit...it's been 3 months and i'm all dried up, but I'm going to look into it!!!

Re: Any Mama's who have sucessfully relactated?

I want to say to all of you who are relactating, planning on relactating, or have relactated. GOOD FOR YOU! WOOHOO! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. You are doing the best thing for yourself and your child. I have never done it, but I know a mom who adopted and lactated. I just wanted to add my support in here for you all, because it is a long hard road, but the rewards will outweigh the struggles. Congrats.

Re: Any Mama's who have sucessfully relactated?

I did after a 5 week break. I second Domperidone over Reglan, oatmeal, plenty of fluids, and keeping the baby at the breast and pumping to get your milk back. It is HARD, the hardest thing I have ever done, but it was so worth it. And remember, even is you don't get a FULL supply back, the benefits of breast feeding go WAY beyond just the superior nutrition.

Grace is 17 mos old and we are still nursing.

Good luck, mama!
