Where do you buy shoes for your kids?

I need a store that will measure feet, b/c I have two new foster kids this week. I took that last foster kids to Payless, and I won't do that again. The girl working there did not want to be there, and I think she measured their feet wrong, and then the shoes were horrible quality. The shoes started falling apart after 3 days!
Suggestions?
Thanks!

Stride Rite. We get awesome service, the people are SO friendly. And they measure his feet twice to make sure it's correct (my kid has like a 2.5 foot and a 3.5 foot ). Plus the shoes are great quality and really hold up!

We don't vaccinate, we kept our sons intact, we use cloth diapers, we co-sleep, we extended RF, we breastfeed, but we watch too much tv and I totally dig plastic! Everyone has their issues, lol.

I've never had that problem with payless, I'm sorry, I measure their feet myself there, but I don't pay more than $20 a pair for shoes (anywhere) bc they outgrow them waaaay too fast.

where ever i see cheap shoes! i just start by holding up the bottom of the shoe to their foot and then try on from there. they really do outgrow them at an alarming rate.

Re: Where do you buy shoes for your kids?

Many malls in the U.S. have discount shoe stores. I think the one here is called shoe dept. They have the same shoes(nike, adidas, etc.) but for less. For shoe sizing you could have the child stand on a piece of paper and measure big toe to heel and/or you could hold the bottom of the shoe up to the foot like previous post said. Try the shoe on and check for where the big toe is inside the shoe. I think the rule is big toe 1/4 inch from front of shoe but not positive.

I agree with Stride Rite. I also buy my LO's shoes at Journey's Kids, they have cute shoes and great service.

Famous Footwear. We hit them up for the buy one get on half off sale. I have always measured their feet myself. Trying stuff on is the best way to tell as well. I find that different brands run different.

Usually Target. They have some really cute white tennis shoes that I just love on DS. My mom took DS to stride rite and had his feet measured and bought the $50 shoes, but DH and I can't spend that much $$ on shoes here. He grows out of them way too fast.

I went to Stride Rite.com, and they have something where you can print out a sizing sheet and determine the size yourself at home.
Sizing Tool
That's cool and will be a great help!

Re: Where do you buy shoes for your kids?

We are lucky enough to have a stride rite outlet nearby and that's where we get ds's shoes and have been very happy with them. That being said I also bought him some striderites at garage sales this summer and they are the shoes he wears the most so go figure!
