2 Questions for ya!

Ok, so when you buy used dipes, do you do anything special before you start using them, or do you just do your normal wash routine?

Also, I saw someone mention on another post how you can make liners with cheap fleece from Wal-Mart. Is it a specific kind of fleece? How do I know what size to make the liners?

Thanks for helping a newbie!

When I get a used dipe, I will sometimes add vinegar to the wash for antibacterial purposes. That's really the only thing I do differently though.

You can buy any type of fleece you want really. I've bought alot of fleece. To make your liners, I would just measure the inside of the dipe or the internal pad soaker and go from there. For instance, I measured the width and length of the internal soaker in my AIOs and then cut to be a tiny bit wider than that. Does that make sense?

Re: 2 Questions for ya!

That makes perfect sense. Does it require any sewing to make the liners?

You want to make sure you get microfleece and no you don't need to sew or anything, fleece doesn't unravel or anything like that.

Re: 2 Questions for ya!

I just wash used diapers with my regular stash once before using them. I guess I assume that most people I buy from are fanatics like myself and that the dipes aren't going to be nasty or anything.

I just ran across an ebay seller yesterday who suggests in all her diaper auctions to "give it a once over with campdry to the outside, since I assume you will be running this through the wash with bleach when you receive." I never would have even considered using bleach but I guess some people must.

I already wash on hot & use tea tree oil (antibacterial) so I figure that outta kill anything that could have been in them, but I usually only buy from a handful of people I know anyway.

for fleece liners i have long/wide ones that fit good in the diaper adn others that are cut a bit wonky...if i use diaper rash cream i make sure that the fleece dosent get washed with the diapers!

I actually strip the used dipes when I get them just so whatever they use in thier wash routine doesn't mess with what I use. But I hardly ever buy used.

I just throw in with the diapers I am washing.
I buy microfleece and usually cut it about 12 inches long by about 4 1/2 or 5 inches for the width. I have size mediums.
