Why do I want to collect slings?

I'm due in less than three weeks now and I'm nesting for sure... and I just keep wanting more slings! I have a New Native pouch, I'm STILL waiting on a ring sling bought on here , and now I'm really considering another pouch sling (it's crocheted by a mama here and looks so cozy for a newborn!). Anybody on right now? Help me know how much I need to start with (or is DH right and I "don't need any more slings"???)

I think it's a good idea to have a few different carriers around for when baby 1st arrives. If you have a couple, 1 of them is bound to work

Have you been practicing so you can get a feel for them before baby arrives? I'd recommend a 5 lb bag of sugar to test things out. It's about the same size and only a little less weight than a curled up newborn. Perfect for helping you to start working out that learning curve

Good idea about the sugar! I've been using teddy bears but you really don't get the sense of the weight that way. Anyone else have ideas?

or a 2 liter soda bottle.

I won't say anything about your need for more slings...I don't even know how many I have anymore.

My dh calls it a disease.

I love ring slings for a new born. I had all my kids in them within hrs of birth.
I also loved my moby or stretch wraps for NB's. you can just wear the moby and nothing else. great skin to skin contact, great for nursing.

Good luck!

It's sure not *necessary* to have more than one, but it's convenient. I've always got a carrier in each car, so I never forget one, and of course you want to have a few different colors to go with different outfits....

Re: Why do I want to collect slings?

haha! Yes, my DH thinks it's a disease too! I have one of each. My DS was always too large to cradle in pouches but I used them more often now that he can sit up and I can side carry him. I have one of each and love all of them differently depending on what I am doing. My favorites when DS was younger was a ringsling and wraps since they supported his head well. Go for it girl, there are a lot of other things worse that you can be addicted to!

Re: Why do I want to collect slings?

I think its good to have a few different kinds around to see which ones you like and which work the best. I loved our Microfleece peanut shell when my dd was first born..the nurses even thought it was great in the hospital..lol
Ring slings are great too because you can adjust it as much as you need it..eapecially good for that PP weight loss.
Mei teis are awesome too..i have 3..lol
