Anyone hear about the new recall where they took ALL the infant med. for colds. What do you use if all the med. are took off their shelves?

If my kids need meds I get a prescription from the dr. for Rondec. My kids have asthma so not treating a cold isn't an option for us.

It was only for infant cold medicines (for under 2 years old). Children's products for ages 2+ are all OK and available. The reason for the recall (which was voluntary but I think all companies did it) was simply because too many parents overdose their infants due to the concentrated infant formulas. You can always ask your ped. how much children's medicine to give if you have a LO under 2. I think they also said that kids under 2 shouldn't be given cold remedies that cover up symptoms, they should just be given pain meds like Tylenol and just get through the cold. Or that's what I took from what I read.

My local paper had a story about it awhile back. I never checked the shelves.

They don't work. countless studies have proven it. So if your child actually needs meds you need to see a ped and get a med that works. If your child just has a cold the best remedies are vit C, rest, vapor rubs and some time in a steamy bathroom. Honestly over the counter cold remedies are dangerous in children under 6 and since they don't work anyway it really isn't worth the risk to use them.

aot of places are removing the meds off the shelves.
i just seen on the news, theyre saying no decongestants for under 6 yrs and then at the end it said none for under 12 yr olds, the meds have never been tested on kids before being put on the shelves back when they all started coming out..nice

my ped said they couldn't give me anything (including presc.) in because of all tis happening . Not sure if boys have cold or allergies I have it too and so does my daughter think it's allergies but at 4 months it's hard on them . The boys aren't bad just a little snifed up but they have tiny nose cannals at this age. I remember when my dd was their age same thing happened and dr. said that if our weather would stay the same this wouldn't happen but where our temp. fluxs. that's the reason. But the med. was for infants not toddlers.

Re: new recall on all presc. for colds for infants

does anyone have a link for this? my dh told me about it, but i would like to read about it.

i used to work daycare, and we had a mom there who no joke had her dd on pedicare and benadryl round the clock for a week out of every month, at least. and wouldn't you know it, that girl could not concentrate on *anything*, didn't seem to understand when she was spoken to, and could. not. sit. still. im talking this child would throw her body around the room, feet up on the walls, etc. like nothing i have even seen. and then baby brother came along, and she doped him up too. we got so we wouldn't give them meds, but would write it on their sheets.
