The best convertible carseat??

My dd is getting too big for her carseat and it's time to switch up. She's 21 lbs but not 1 yet so we still need a rear facing but one that can be switched around when it's time. I love the britax ones but they are soo pricey!! But I will get one if they are the best. I want one that she can use for the rest of the time she needs a carseat so it needs to have a higher weight limit. Please help!!

Well, I have a Britax and can only say it really is the best. I believe the DS mama RaceNZanesMom is a carseat expert...you should ask her!

From everything I've read ( a LOT) Britax seems to be the best!

Re: The best convertible carseat??

Hands down I say Britax is the best if you can afford it.

Re: The best convertible carseat??

We can't afford Britax or whatever it is...

We got two Eddie Bauer seats at Target.

One is only forward facing but the back can come off and be just a booster and is good to 100 lbs

the other we got matches but can be rear 8-20lbs and forward till 80 lbs it aslo can convert to be a booster to use with the seat belts

Here is links to the seats we got. They were also 20% off.

This one is the one for our 9 mth and ours are in a tanish color

This one is for our toddler. also tanish color

Re: The best convertible carseat??

Fisher price is making a Safe Voyage Deluxe Convertible Car Seat, it's like a britax, but less costly with less extras... It still goes rear facing till 33 pounds & forward facing with the straps until 55 pounds... which is a big plus... Here it is with free shipping... http://www.elitecarseats.com/Fisher-...onvertible.pro (I HAD THIS LINK WRONG, SORRY! JUST FIXED IT!)

if you do get a britax, make sure you get one of the ones that goes to 65 pounds forward facing, they will also go to 33 pounds rear-facing... it's so important to remain rear-facing as long as possible & then in the 5 point harness straps for as long as possible after that!

Looking for a seat that has a high weight limit still using the straps, will actually save you money, because you won't have to buy another seat once your child reaches 40 pounds... plus a lot of children aren't mature enough to be in only a belt positioning booster at 40 pounds when they outgrow their standard convertable anyway, so that still leaves parents looking for these seats at that time...

We aren't close to rich, but this was really important to me to have the best seat & one that had the harness past 40 pounds... our insurance did pay for $50 of it, so double check to make sure yours won't do the same!!

Re: The best convertible carseat??

I say Britax. You can get some good deals now too on some of the discontinued covers (as low as $219).

We had a Evenflo Triumph too (in dh's truck) and I really didn't like it! My average sized dd outgrew it by height (rearfacing) at 20 months. So then I had to go get another seat for her. I decided to save the money and got her another Marathon. I think that it's worth the extra money because:
-It goes up to 65 lbs
-You can tether it rf, which really makes a big difference in safety to me
-It is VERY user friendly
-Non-twisting straps

Re: The best convertible carseat??

I just bought 2 brand new Britax Boulevards and I am so impressed. I can install them in 1/3 of the time it take for me to put my Graco, Evelflo, Eddi bouer and many others in my car. I got them for $240 each. My kids love how comfotable they are. I whish I had got them sooner.
