Re: Just wondering - Were you CDed as a baby?
My mom did prefolds and pins with her first four. My twin and I (youngest) were in sposies, but mom always had a dozen on hand in case she couldn't make it out to the store (six kids in seven years).

Re: Just wondering - Were you CDed as a baby?
both dh & i were. i don't know with what though. i gather that the sposies of the 70s weren't really considered to be all that great.
my mom said eventually she switched me over to sposies though b/c they would fall away from my skin when wet & made me have less trouble with skin irritation. not sure about the rest of my siblings. i know by the time my youngest sister came along that it was def. all sposies. my mil is continually mystified by Molly's diapers. she always asking "where's the diaper?" or "that's a diaper?" |

Re: Just wondering - Were you CDed as a baby?
My mama says she felt so lucky to be able to afford disposable diapers... I think it was the beginning of when they were available... silly mama!! at least she didn't buy formula to be with the times!! (we were all ebf) She's a fairly crunchy woman with three kids that are varying degrees of crunchy themselves...
I have seen some pics of my bro-in-law in cloth! Really cute prefolds with pins!! He tries to deny his mom ever did "that!" He's a little annoyed by cloth, but still changes them...

Re: Just wondering - Were you CDed as a baby?
My parents used cloth for all 4 of us - my oldest 2 brothers at the same time (they're 14 months apart). My dad is infatuated with today's cloth and he tells EVERYONE that his daughter is using cloth, wears her baby, ebf until 8 mos, co-sleeps,
It's cute!

Re: Just wondering - Were you CDed as a baby?
My sister and I were both cloth diapered. My mom tried using sposies on my sister for out of the house, but she got really rashing. I never had a sposie on my bum- I'm old tho, lol. Most of mine were hand made by my grandma, contours with cute stuff on the bum.
My mom also cared for many children over the years- 20+ probably. They all wore cloth, flats or later on prefolds.

Re: Just wondering - Were you CDed as a baby?
I was. My Mom said there was NO WAY she would pay lots money for paper diapers. She's still shocked that people don't cloth diaper more. I love my Mom!

Re: Just wondering - Were you CDed as a baby?
not me. my mom claims I broke out in anything but huggies or luvs. I suspect either it was too much work or I had issues with the way she washed them
My husband was though with flats and his sister was with prefilds. My mil constanly gripes about how much I spend on diapers (oh if only she knew how much I have really spent ) she thinks gerber prefolds pins and plastic pants should be perfectly good enough.

Re: Just wondering - Were you CDed as a baby?
Myself and 4 of my siblings were CD'd, mostly flannel flats and rubber pants, I think she had some prefolds too.
I have memories from my childhood of sitting helping her fold diapers in the evenings after the rest of the kids were in bed. ![]() Her last three were sposied...a set of twins arriving as #6 & #7 was just too much laundry in addition to the amount generated by a family that large. Can't say that I blame her! Plus the twins were high-need/special need, so when my youngest sister came along she still had her hands full enough, and was dealing with a sick grandparent...so I can't say I blame her there, either.

Re: Just wondering - Were you CDed as a baby?
My brother and I were Cded. The diapers in the seventies were pretty recent on the market and we just couldn`t wear these without horrible rash. Kuddo to my mom, I don`t think I`d be up to do it with her old washing machine where you turn the rolls to get the water out of the clothes. Her too like other moms did the daily wash with boiling the diapers first. She is really supportive of me using the cloth dipes and is just as thrilled to see new fluffy mail and how modern the dipes are nowadays !
