Re: My 2 month old is over weight??

I'd say take his opinion worth a grain of salt. Ds1 was 14lb 7oz at 2mo and 18lb 4oz @ 4mo. He grew at that rate for awhile. I did formula feed for most of the time (no flaming please!), but I did breastfeed for the first 6 weeks. During that time, I found that he was using me as a paci at times. *shrug*

Re: My 2 month old is over weight??

I had a pretty chunky DD that I EBF for a long time. I would ALWAYS ask my doc if she was obese (we are talking mulitiple rolls here) and she would always get a smile on her face and shake her head no.

*my dd stopped gaining at around 1 yr and now she is at the bottom of the growth charts for height and weight! (she used to always be way off)

So, I'm pretty surprised at your doc's reaction. It would sure make me think about switching.

Re: My 2 month old is over weight??

yeah that is just ridiculous, DS was 19lbs at 3mo, he was also ebf on demand. By 12mo he started to thin out and has been on the skinnier side of average since then. My old pedi, who I looooved said that until the parents have concerns for some reason that she doesn't even worry about their weight in terms of being overweight until they are about 2yo.

Sophia was at 15 pounds a few weeks ago when I weighed her. She'll be 3 months tomorrow. Yes, she's a chunky little baby. If she eats too much I know about it, because I'm usually wearing it as soon as she's upright.

Thank you all for putting this into perspective for me. I knew I should've went with my gut about what he said. But you know how it is, sometimes we as mommies second guess ourselves.

Find another doctor, NOW.

Because he doesn't understand breastfeeding and that will cause problems later on, TRUST me on that.

Good luck mama!
