Question Sherpa vs. Hemp....

OK so I use LHC fitteds for bedtime for my ds along with an LHC cover and it works beautifully! sometimes I even let him sleep coverless in a LHC fitted and he doesnt leak through..... well yesterday I got in my custom order of organic velour fitteds with embroidery on the bum...except this time I decided to get sherpa instead of hemp... my other LHC fitteds are regular fabric and hemp... I washed all the dipes yesterday and put him to bed in one of the organic velour fitteds and an LHC cover and he just woke up about an hour ago and was soaking wet.... even the cover I changed him and he went back to sleep....

so to make a long story short ( is it too late for that? lol) is it because of the sherpa? or because of the velour? or the combination? anyone know why it wouldnt hold up as well as my regular LHC fitteds?

Re: Sherpa vs. Hemp....

Hemp is really absorbant, more so than sherpa in my opinion. That is likely the problem.

what a bummer! I bought these for bedtime... and I LOVE the color and embroidery I dont know what to do now... I dont do fitteds during the day... and it would be too bulky anyways for daytime use

Sherpa and velour are supposed to be just as absorbent. I have a sherpa fitted and a velour fitted and they both work just as well as my hemp fitted. Maybe a different cover with those might work better. Sorry I can't help you too much.

Re: Sherpa vs. Hemp....

my experience is that pee goes straight sherpa and ov. Every diaper i've tried made out of one of those in the past 7 months
i dknow it doesn't make sense but i have sworn off them both
might as well leave 'em for the people that love 'em

I've found you need some hemp in there, even just inner layers. It really helps boost absorbency. You could stick a hemp doubler in them.

Re: Sherpa vs. Hemp....

Oh bummer. I prefer my hemp/velour over sherpa/velour. The hemp is just lots more absorbant in my opinion.

Re: Sherpa vs. Hemp....

I think different things work better for different people. My dd leaks in hemp diaper, IMO because they do not absorb fast enough for her flooding. Sherpa works great for her because it absorbs faster.
