Re: is DS not so AP friendly?

DS is a pro-cloth board, not particularly inclined to be pro or against any type of parenting style. That said, there are a lot of AP mamas here, or those who live way off the mainstrearm chart. The topics that are posted kinda circle round and round, sometimes things are more crunchy, sometimes not so much so. But we always talk cloth Thre's a bf forum, too.

Personally, I like things crunchy We dont' vax, bf exlusively and extended, dont's circ, don't eat meat, don't use doctors, homeschool, co-sleep, wear our babies (and toddlers..and sometimes preschoolers).....but I know alot of great mamas on here who parent nothing like I do and we always find plenty to talk about

Re: is DS not so AP friendly?

I always thought that CD=crunchy and crunchy=liberal but boy am I wrong! The majority of moms on this board are conservatives! The Pin has even more conservatives!

Goes to show that people can make the exact same decisions but for completely opposite reasons.

You must have read what I wrote differently than I intended it. I was just saying my thoughts on the subject. I didn't say anything about you imparticular nor did I intend to direct it at you alone. I was just saying "hey, everyone has different views (on AP)" and that this board is to bring CD'ing mamas together regardless on other views and decisions.

Re: is DS not so AP friendly?

I love this board because it's NOT AP. (Even though I am). So many of the AP-exclusive boards I've been on have been so judgemental, and that's a sad thing to me. We each do what we believe is best for our children. Just because we may disagree on what that is doesn't mean we should judge other people.

So *YaY* for DS!

Re: is DS not so AP friendly?

I personally don't put a name/label on my parenting styles. I just try to be the best parent I can be. I don't follow "rules" as to how I raise my child. I follow my heart. As long as you are caring for your child and he/she is getting everything he/she needs from you, then I think your doing great. If you want "natural living" sites or more of the "AP" you might want to go to mothering.com Personally, I think "natural living" is a huge trend right now. If you go to that site I'd be careful what you say. They will attack you in seconds if you disagree with what they say or go against them in anyway.

Umm, no AP is a set of GUIDELINES. You need not meet EVERY one of them to practice AP.

Re: is DS not so AP friendly?

Great, so I am going to throw my kids in a crib, feed them formula and hit them and still call myself AP?

They are guidelines but you actually have meet some of them and I think breastfeeding is the biggie.

I think that some sort of co-sleeping arrangement is too. After all, how attached to your new baby are you if they are sleeping down the hall in a baby cage? Just my
