Need Help with Wool and Fitteds

in my on going search for the perfect nite-time cd'ing solution, i have switched from pockets to fitteds and wool/fleece. last nite was my first attempt with a wahm fitted and a windpro cover. the sheets stayed dry as well as ds clothes, however, when i went to change him this morning the fitted was sopping wet all over. is that normal? i think i've read somewhere of some mamas who rave about a dipe that doesn't feel wet to the touch in the morning. help me find that dipe! im really loving fitteds and wool, but i don't want ds to be covered in so much wet in the morning. also, on a fleece cover, do you treat it the same as wool? if it's wet do you need to wash it everytime or just let it air dry?

thanks!!

hey
the not wet feeling is in general the INSIDE of the diaper, and also one with a stay dry inner. do you have any with stay dry inners? like microfleece, suedecloth, etc..??? what was the layer next to your babys skin??

flece covers are generally thought of as in between wool and acrylic, like you can let them ai dry a time or two but theyre going to smell most likely after more than that of use without washing, other than that, ill say this. i ony have one fleece cover, so i dont know too much about them, i love wool, and other than that normally use pockets so...yep! lol'

no, this is the only one i have and it appears to be made from an ipf with an outer layer of fleece. when i changed him the whole diaper was soaking wet. i've noticed now after changing him again that he has the beginnings of a rash. which he has never had since he was born! i will def. not be using it again at nite!

thx for the info on the cover. i really liked it, as is i said before, i would have never known the inside of the dipe was so wet b/c the cover was completely dry to the touch as well as our bed! and it's super cute!

Re: Need Help with Wool and Fitteds

Generally if your diaper is sopping in the morning, then it isn't absorbent enough. For nighttime we are currently using a Baybee ss fitted with a 5 or 6 layer snap in soaker and adding at least 1 sometimes 2 doublers. We put our wool over that and in the morning the wool is dry, the sheets are dry, some of the outside of the diaper is wet, but baby's bum is dry to the touch.

Wool works beautifully but only if you use enough absorbency inside.

I still recommend VBSN bionic version from Trista at Olive Branch Baby. She's closed right now, but she'll open again soon and she's planning on restocking. I bought two that I found on FSOT boards, and I love them for DS. She has the option of getting athletic wicking fabric for the inner, and it really does keep his bottom dry. He went 10 hours between changes the other night in his, (DD had spent the night with her Gammy and I couldn't drag my butt out of bed!) and, yes, the outside of his dipe was wet, but his wool was still dry. That's awesome IMO, because he's a heavy wetter and still nurses frequently at night.

I second the OBB recommendation. Unfortunately Trista is moving right now, so she won't be opening back up for customs until the end of August. They are worth the wait though

nak...
i too have a vbsn and LOVE it! so worth it. but in the meantime, you could try a crickett's. ours is only partially wet and she offers free shipping for 1st dipe. also a happy hempy you can stuff for night. this is what we use on the "other nights".

Re: Need Help with Wool and Fitteds

yeah i use happy hempys a lot ay night, nicely stuffed LOL
if theres not a stay dry inner then its going to be wet on the inside, you need something with a stay dry inner for overnights unless you change a couple times (which i dont lol) i hope hes not got a rash now!

id say stay with yor pockets until you can get at least one with some sort of wicking fabric inside though, unless you have some fleece you can cut up and stick inside so he doesnt get wet
