Homeschooling qualifications?

I've been doing some reading on hs and I was wondering if it's hard to qualify. I don't have the 45 college credits I keep seeing that I need.
Anyone have any info?

No, it's not hard. What you have to do is take a qualifying course. There is an awesome one run by Paula Harper-Christensen, I can't remember the name, but I'll look it up for you, I have all my stuff around here somewhere. It's 2 Saturdays, and when it's over, you qualify. Even if it wasn't necessary, it's an amazing program filled with all kinds of excellent information on every aspect and concern about homeschooling.

Re: Homeschooling qualifications?

Fiveblessings is from the same state as you so likely she knows exactly. However, hs requirements/guidelines/etc vary from state to state.. in NC where I live you have to have graduated highschool.. In VA where I was living temporarily, they wanted a college degree but if you didnt have one you could still hs you just had to be monitored closer or have your kid take a standardized test more often or something.. I forget the exact details. We left VA before it was an issue.

So whatever advice you get, please make sure it applies for where you live!

(HS ROCKS!! I was for 10 years!!)

Re: Homeschooling qualifications?

I dotn think in Arizona you have to have any type of degree or college creditsto homeschool. I have been talkign about homeschooling to a mom how has howmschoold 7 children for a year about it, and she knows I am only a HS grad, with no edction. She knows the laws here inside and out and has never said anything about eduction for me.
She did tel me when my kids got into subjects that were not myforte, the local school district HAD to provide me with a tutot free of charge, and I would be able to Borrow text books for the year of schooling my child was in.. That is one thing, when you pay txes, you get to do...

oh so many many more questions now. I'll have to write them down to ask later. Both kids just got up and I have to run to the market.
