my nb stash so far - what would you add?

Just for fun...
I am working on building my nb stash. I want to have:
1. enough dipes to make it through at least 2, preferably 3 days
2. a few types to try to see what we like the best

Here's what I have so far (well, once all pending fluffymail arrives) - what would you add?

15 prefolds - all infant size - I think
6 KL0's
1 ME One size (looks huge for a newborn!)

2 gerber velcro covers
2 dappi covers
1 polar babies cover
1 ME small air-flow (also looks too big)

1 snappi
4 pairs pins
12 cloth wipes
1 big wetbag to line diaper pail
1 "travel" wetbag for diaper bag (holds 4-6 dipes?)

I would probably buy more covers. I'm a big cover freak, LOL. I just think with any blowouts or dirty covers, you'll want some extra over what you already have - especially with all of the pfs and fitteds you have.
I would probably buy more wipes, too - I'm turning into a wipe freak i guess.

this is all newborn size?

you will definitely need more prefolds and/or fitteds! Probly more covers too. And wipes or washcloths of some kind. Especially if your wanting to go 3 days between washings...

I'd get a few pockets to try XS or S FB, S VB, or XS FF
A few More fitteds but different brand (they are all different) ~ Mutt, PW or BBL

Are your prefold preemie or infant?

I'd also get some more covers ~ wool, BSWW, Prowraps

You'll need a lot more wipes ~ they say 1 dozen per day (and that's only using like 1 per diaper change).
Another snappi in case you misplace the other .
I'd also get a wipe wet bag ~ great for on the go!

They say 10-12 diaper changes per day in the beginning. You'll need 24-36 diapers to wash every 2-3 days.

Re: my nb stash so far - what would you add?

I'm pretty sure all my prefolds are infant size. Do I need preemie, too? This is our first baby and so we have no idea how big it will be! I was hoping I could just fold down the front/back of the infant PFs to fit a littler baby.

What do you all use for wipes? The dozen I have coming are from emi bean's. DH wonders if we could just use "cheap" washcloths - like the kind that come in packs of a dozen from walmart or something like that. Will they be too rough/thin/whatever?

Thanks!

Looks good so far. For 2-3 days I would shoot for 36 diapers (easy rule of thumb for a nb is 12 per day.) And at least 10 covers. Yes the cheap wash cloths at walmart work just fine and are all I used until I learned to make my own.

Re: my nb stash so far - what would you add?

I'd get another dozen or so KL0's - my NB stash will be almost all fitteds + wool - I personally hated PF's on Isabel when she was a NB.

yeah, maybe I'll get some wool too...
I was worried that it would be outgrown kind of quickly - you know - for the cost?
Does anyone use wool over a prefold? I always see "fitteds & wool" mentioned together!

Re: my nb stash so far - what would you add?

Definatly MORE wipes, fitteds and covers and I would add a couple snappis just in case. I was glad I had 2 when I used PFs and would have gotten more eventually but we stopped using PFs and went to pockets. Pins I hardly used when we had PFs around, I have some now but it was actually for the Kissaluv contours we had but I sold em. What are you planning for nights? I would do something easy at night, like fitteds and wool/fleece, so that there isn't a lot of fumbling with the frequent night sessions. I didn't start using CDs until my boys slept through so I didn't think about that until later on. I heard the Sz 0 Kissaluvs are good for newborns and I'd think that you might want a dz preemie PFs, the infants last a long ways weight-wise, so I would think the smaller would work better for the first few weeks and you have LOTS of changes then too. My BFd babies pooped every feeding so I usually changed before, after and in between feedings as well.
And I used PFs and wool with my now 2.5yr old. I used a nighttime fold with another tri-fold PF or doubler in the center with a snappi.

Re: my nb stash so far - what would you add?

Infant prefolds are good, I was going to suggest those if you had preemie. I got preemie only because I had a little bean last time and I figured I could always use them as a doubler.

NB's will grow out of wool pretty quick. Check out some used wool or get a small.

Personally I think the cheapie washcloths are a bit rough but they will do the job. Do you sew or have access to a sewing machine? you could always pick up some cheap flannel and sew it together. Also, check out WAHM Wares as someone usually has them at 3 for $1.

As for the prefold/wool question, I am unsure. I would think that a fitted is more absorbant and that would make it a better companion for wool.

I am also due soon, here's my NB stash:
16 KL0
14 other fitteds (various)
3 NB (XS) pockets
24 preemie prefolds/16 infant prefolds
10 covers (various)
4 wool soakers

I plan to wash every 2-3 days as well.
