Re: Silicone or latex pacifiers?

Silicone Nuk here. I had a few of the latex Nuks in the beginning but they didn't seem to hold up when they went through the dishwasher. So I figured they wouldn't hold up as well in my LO's mouth.

Latex, I think. We do the Playtex Ortho-Pro and they have both, but the Latex is way softer than the Silicone. DS would only take laxtex for a while, but doesn't care anymore which he gets.

We don't vaccinate, we kept our sons intact, we use cloth diapers, we co-sleep, we extended RF, we breastfeed, but we watch too much tv and I totally dig plastic! Everyone has their issues, lol.

Re: Silicone or latex pacifiers?

My girls took the soothie ones for 2 weeks or so after they were born. The only ones they would take!
My DS just got weaned off of his Mam pacifier. I tasted the latex ones once, LOL they taste bad and the silicone don't really taste like anything. I'm also latex sensitive, not that that would be a big issue I just like to keep it out of their mouths for that reason just in case.

We only use silicone here. DS prefers the NUK ones, but is less picky as he gets older. I used latex ones with my daughter and the way the latex cracks after time - always worried me that she'd chew it off or something. The silicone is pretty much indestructible.

Re: Silicone or latex pacifiers?

I screeetched like a banshee in the hospital when w/o me knowing it, they gave baby girl a Soothie while she was under the uv lights for jaundice ... they even dipped it in sucrose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was po'd! DD took the paci ok and slept and slept under the lights, she was ok but I was having a HORRIBLE time getting her to BF I didnt want any kind of interference... but now she wont have a single thing to do with a paci, and hasnt taken one since we left the hospital I love knowing I never have to break her of it!

I do use silicone nipples on her bottles though. I think they are more "formed" at first uses but, they do soften some. I stay away from latex as much as possible ... thats just me Good luck!

Silicone Nuk here also...and it was the baby's choice. He didn't care for the latex nuk the hospital gave us, so we tried silicone, and he still prefers it.
