Re: Silicone or latex pacifiers?

Silcone Soothie, DS prefered it over the cuter options because it was mommy-shaped

silicone mams!!

I agree about the latex breaking down....

oh, and we try to get the Mams Pearl edition, it has a textured end, and he seems to take them better, they are a tad softer than normal silicone!

Oh, btw, he will only use the NUK style nipples for bottles (or the Medela) but will NOT take a nuk paci??

Re: Silicone or latex pacifiers?

Silicone NUK size 2. She actually prefers the red one or the blue one.

The reason I started her? She had a NEED to suck ALL THE TIME. So I used my fingers(she wouldn't nurse for comfort). And after a week of my fingers splitting, cracking, and bleeding, I decided something else needed to be used. I found the NUK was closet to my nipple shape when it came out of her mouth. So we used that. She is better about not using it 24/7 now. she uses it for nap time, bed time, and when needing comfort.

Oh and I REALLY hate pacifiers. So it was hard to get DD started on one.

Re: Silicone or latex pacifiers?

Silicone doesn't have that nasty smell that the brown latex ones do. DS would and will not even put those in his mouth. We also only use clear silicone nipples for bottles... he wouldn't drink if they weren't the clear silicone ones.

HTHs!

We used avent silicone for ds#1 and mam silicone for ds#2. I ordered some gumdrops for Zuri to take to the hospy, but have a freebie laytex backup from the bru registry kit. I hope she's like her brothers and doesn't really take a paci for long.

We use the MAM silicone pacis. I am afraid of the latex allergies and I don't think the latex taste great.

Silicone because I read that latex ones deteriorate and can leach harmful chemicals. If I had a choice it would be none, but I have binky obsessed babies
