I miss fabric softener smell....

Well.. we've been CDing during the day now for a full-on week with my (gasp) now 3 week old son.. and I've got to say, I'm lovin' it!! I can't imagine how expensive (not to mention, inconvient) it would be to be in sposies full time--although we did that for the first two weeks of Sam's life due to pushy moms and free diapers.

I've been using washing powder/Simply Green to wash my diaps and then line drying.... it's been great (especially hanging for mental health.. I'm a huge advocate for it) but.....

I miss the smell of fabric softener...

When I did use it I always water the generic brand down and use it in a downy ball... JUST enough to have SOME kind of smell......

Is there anything that's safe to add SOME kind of smell?? An extract or something? I mean, I guess no smelling diapers are better than stinky ones! Let me know!

Re: I miss fabric softener smell....

if you add it in, do you need to add in ALOT? being that they are OILS, will that cause repelling at all? Ive added in TTO before but never had a lingering smell on the dipes. Thats ok by me though because TTO smell makes me gag. lol Id love a lavendar and orange smell though. How much do you need to add?

I use EO's too. I had a mamma tell me she uses EO's in the dryer on a washcloth & tosses in like a dryer sheet.

Re: I miss fabric softener smell....

Congratulations on your new boy!! I had missed his birth.

Adding enough EO to leave a smell would probably cause build up. I'd be VERY careful. Adding a drop or two to a washcloth in the dryer might be ok. I'm not sure.

I haven't used any softner since Zane was born. I missed the nice smell early on, but have come to enjoy the clean fresh smell of our clothes. I would just enjoy them being clean, cause once the toddler pee kicks in LOL!

Enjoy your new babe!!
