trifold in a cover...it's like using an AI2. When you wash the laundry, trifold all your prefolds, lay them in your covers and stack them and then you just grab and go. Easy peasy! You can't beat that and it's CHEAP!

How did you strip them? Were there no bubbles even after you did all the hot, hot, hot?

I have always used purex and have never had any stink issues. I don't use anything else, no vinegar or BS. Hemp, microfiber, fleece, PUL, nothing ever with them.

It seems like everyone that is having problems always has all these additives in there wash routine.

I second using prefolds as inserts... I use infant prefolds in my BG's for DS. So much better than that nasty MF! Sorry for the hard time you're having with it!

I would use a stronger detergent and bleach them, then rinse like crazy so the fibers don't break down. I bet that would help. Good luck, Theresa

I had to bleach my mf inserts the other day. I used about 1/3 cup in a cold prewash with Arm and Hammer Essentials detergent half way up to the bottom line. Then I did a warm wash with 2 warm rinses with the same amount of detergent again, then a cold wash with 2 cold rinses (no detergent). They came out fluffy, clean as a whistle, and completely smell free.

I ended up switching to tide and that seemed to work for us.

How are you stripping? With dawn? Or in the dishwasher?

Re: i don't want to quit, but......

I use MF os (cottonbabies) at least 2/3 of the week in my pockets. I used to have some major ammonia issues... before I switched to regular blue Tide!! I only use it for the dipes, but I' haven't had any issues since! That was 3 months ago!!! I did wash them all (I hunted down every last one out of every vehicle, diaper bag and all that were at our friends house, too!) with just super hot water, a full dose of bleach and then treated with TTO in the rinse.

No stink issues since and now I just wash everything together.

Have you tried baking soda or doing a vinager rinse??

another thing I remember doing was washing with just a small amount of dawn.
