Re: Puberty...

100lbs is often about when kids get their period

I was 13 and 1/2 when I started. I wouldn't worry.

Re: Puberty...

I have a 12 and a 10 yr old daughters I thought for sure my 12 yr old would have already started her menses since i started at 10 but neither have.
My 12 yr old just developed breast last winterish. I'm sure it won't be much longer.
They are both skinny and athletic so I'm thinking that may been why my oldest hasn't started.
Although she's been PMSing since 2.

on the pms'ing part!

I think it's normal if she is on the thin side and athletic for it not to have arrived yet.
Like another mama said some babies walk at 8 mo some at 15 mo. Some women mense at 10 others at 18
Don't worry about it!

Re: Puberty...

Perfectly normal. My older sister was 9. I was 11. My younger sister was almost 15. So three sisters at three different ages. All very normal. My DD was 13 and my niece was only 9, poor thing. She didn't even tell her mom for 2 months!! She did however tell my DD, who told her what to do and to tell her mom.

Re: Puberty...

Totally normal at least in my book. I didn't get my first period until 2 or 3 months before my 14th bday. Most of my friends had it by then so I thought I was never going to get it...now I'm so excited that my AF hasn't come back yet after having ds LOL

Like the other posters, probably don't have to start worrying until 16. Also, if she is very athletic and active, that can delay starting a period.

Re: Puberty...

My 13 year old started at 11. She was sorta chunky and lazy. (Just being honest here, not being mean.) I don't know if that has something to do with girls starting earlier or not? She was certainly not athletic at the time. She does cheer now.

Anyway, I wouldn't worry. I'd just be basking in the happy days you are having now.

Re: Puberty...

I was 16, started on Christmas so EXCATLY 16 and a half. I was built like her and played alot of sports. I learned somewhere in my college A&P classes that you need at least 14 percent body fat to start I think or something like that. I soooo wouldn't worry. I don't see how a OB appt for a 14 year old could be mentally healthy, but that is just me. I didn't have boobs until I was about that age, buds, no boobs, fit a AA as a senior in HS. Even fully engorged I was a C, maybe. She could be a late bloomer which would be a HUGE sigh of releif for me if I have a daughter, they grow up WAY to quick now.

Re: Puberty...

If they are over 16 & haven't started then it's time to take her in for blood tests, but with having breast buds she's on her way & it'll happen sooner than later.
