It's called a hyperlink. You can do it in word, but I don't see where you can do it here... In word, you go to Insert and scroll down to Hyperlink. It'll let you type in the actual web address and then the word you want shown in your text. Maybe mamas do it there and cut and paste it into their siggys? I tried to cut and paste into my text here and it didn't work.

Um, how did my post get ahead of the op?

I've seen people do it in their siggys or other posts....where they link something with only 1 word? how do ya do that? thanks!

It's easy! When you are writing your post, copy the URL you want, then highlight the word you want linked. Click on the icon above the text window, the one that looks like a tiny earth with a chain in front of it - if you hold the mouse arrow over it, it will say "insert link". A window will pop up and you paste the URL there. Hit okay, and you'll see your post with a bunch of html surrounding the word.

OR, you can type in the html yourself. It looks like this: [*URL="http://asdf.com"] your word goes here[/URL*] (take out the asterisks; I put them in just so the example would show up).
