No idea what it is though and I hoe we don't have to go though that.

Re: ADHD??

ADHD means Attention Deficiate Hyper activity Disorder. Type it in a search engine and tons of readings will come up. It is more common in boys. But I am sure it should give you a list of signs or behaviors. I would also get a second opinion before medicating.

Re: ADHD??

My son has ADD/ODD (Attention Deficit Disorder/ Oppositional Defiant Disorder). He is medicated, he takes Concerta. But, it took a lot of frustration, screaming, and tears (all from me) before I was convinced to try the meds, now I'm glad I did. the medication helps him to function and interact with other kids, but he's not a "zombie".

How old is your little one? My family doc sent us to a child neurologist when ds was 3 years old, she diagnosed him. I thought (and still do) that she's crazy. I did not medicate him at 3 years old. It wasn't until the summer before school that I even considered it. I quit my job to stay home and "fix" him...b/c I have something called "Super-Mom Syndrome" I changed every aspect of our lives from how we spoke right down to what he eats...But eventually I came to realize that it wasn't me or anything I was doing to make him the way he is.

He now sees a psyciatrist, who I really don't like, and a mental health nurse who helps a lot...the nurse is a God-send to me, she is soo supportive and understanding. I am currently waiting to get him into the IWK Mental Health Clinic in Halifax, it is the best in our province.

It's a long road once you step onto it....I would definately get a second and third opinion before you take it as a diagnosis. I find that if a child doesn't want to sit in class that the teachers are even telling parents that their kids have ADHD. That's why I took it soo far before I accepted it.

Here are some links that the mental health nurse gave me

If you want any other info or have any questions, pm me I won't claim to be an expert, but I'll tell you what I know from my experiences.

Good luck with this!

DD is 3. No way would I ever even think about meds until it was a must. The doc was just saying maybe and she has a shot appt next week so I will talk to her normal doc about it then. I am not to worried but thought I could find out more about this.

Re: ADHD??

My son has ADHD. He is unmedicated (not that I am against it, we just have had bad experiences) and we are doing okay. He stuggles with focus, attention span, hyperactivity, diligence and sometimes self-control in overly stimulating situations. That being said, my doctor wouldn't even diagnose him until he was 6. Three is extremely young to even be mentioning ADHD. It sounds to me like she is a normal three year old.

Blessings!
