Re: zofran
In my opinion it takes the edge off, and sometimes help stop the vomiting....
ETA: I'm assuming you mean a pill form, never had the IV form but it seem to work well for my patients when I was an RN before DD was born.

Re: zofran
I had it and yes it did help. But the side effects were awful and made me not want to take it. In fact, I still have a bunch of zofran in my drawer.

Re: zofran
OH MY GOD! Zofran is worth worshipping on high!!!!!!! I swear, it has made life liveable and I've GAINED WEIGHT! It definitely took the edge off and now that I'm 27w and dont' really need it much anymore, it's probably the only thing that got me this far. This is the only pregnancy that I've gained weight in so far. I took it twice a day and when I went off it and didn't wean down to one pill a day, one every other, etc, I noticed a big giant headache for a day or two, but that's it. It was worth it. But no other side effects for me. I seriously recommend it if you are still vomitting at 16w. That's not considered "normal" and if you have exhausted all other options I for one am in big favor of a pill. It's better to take a drug that is considered "safe" for you and baby to be able to eat and gain weight normally and not dehydrate and get nutrition to both of you than to suffer through and possibly risk ptl and malnutrition and prematurity. I ended up delivering at 34w due to the constant malnutirtion in my last pregnancy and I would have BEGGED for zofran if I knew it existed and could get someone to listen long enough.

Re: zofran
LOVE zofran. There is even a generic version now, so MUCH cheaper. With DS 1 it was a swallow pill form but now with ds 2 its an oral disolve tablet...works much faster IMO. If you are throwing up that much, you should really try it. It seems to work better for me if I take it at set time each day, before I start throwing up. I know there are some it doesn't work for but there are so many more that it does work for and its one of the few (maybe the only) that does not make you tired. It does have side effects of headache and constipation..if headache got bad I would take tylenol to take the edge off and I take Colace (safe) at night "doesn't make you go, makes it easier for you to go". I am now 22 weeks and take it in the morning. I've been taking it since 6weeks and it saved me from hospitalization/IVs etc. HTH

Re: zofran
Zofran was the only thing that kept me out of the hospital when I was pregnant with the twins. I threw up everyday, all day before I got the prescription.

Re: zofran
Zofran is what helped me survive the throwing up constantly through 21 weeks of pregnancy with dd. I had the oral dissolve kind and it truly was a miracle drug for me. I hope you get some relief soon.

Re: zofran
Yes it's amazing. I'm about ready to get some myself at this point. I didn't have any side effects with it at all, except maybe constipation, but I just took it with fiber and that wasn't a problem.
